Today’s speculation about the implementation of a transfer embargo against Birmingham City comes as no surprise. In February, Blues Trust drew reference to the delay in the publication of the club’s accounts, highlighting our ongoing concerns over the financial state of Birmingham City and Birmingham International Holdings.

We therefore call on the club to put out a clear and unambiguous statement to assure fans when the club accounts will be published and our ability to meet both the Football and Premier League’s regulations regarding finances.

We also call on the club to enter into a ongoing, structured dialogue with Blues fans, something Blues Trust can help facilitate.

The recent events at Portsmouth, Port Vale and Rangers FC have all highlighted the all too parlous nature of football finances. Blues Trust believe that the lack of communication from the club on this issue will only lead to further speculation, rumour and concern amongst Blues fans – something we want to avoid if we are to unite being the team’s push towards promotion
