The Birmingham City Supporters’ Trust is extremely disappointed to hear of Chris Hughton’s impending departure as manager this afternoon.
His exit will only add to the club’s deeply concerning current state, with uncertainty surrounding the club’s long term viability and finances.
While the Trust acknowledges that recent statements have been made via the official BCFC website, we call upon the club to engage in further dialogue with Birmingham City fans regarding the ongoing saga surrounding the club’s financial accounts and offer assurances on both the short and long term future of Birmingham City Football Club.
In addition, the Trust also requests that the club is more forthcoming regarding any potential takeover and believes that all Birmingham City fans, Trust members or otherwise, deserve to be kept informed.
The Trust is neither anti-board nor a protest group and is committed to working in partnership with the club to ensure a better future for Birmingham City. All Birmingham City fans are invited to become a member of the Blues Trust – you can find further details on how to sign up on the Blues Trust website.
i was told this weekend an uk internet entrepreneur wants to take blues on, investment or to be put on the board, don’t know anything about the chap just that he’s local and called jack knowls, truth or not i don’t know.
If the Birmingham City Supporters Trust, want ot be taken seriously, they should by now, have put together a legal statement, requesting a legal statement, regarding the financial state and viability of the of the club, from the Directors of the club. Unfortunately, they know, as well as the rest of the supporters, this will not be forthcoming. I am amazed that the F.A. allowed Carson Yeung,to buy the club, without them doing financial checks on him. After all,we were informed that Yeung paid £80 million for the club, when it was worth £30 million at the most ! Birmingham City council have done nothing to help the club either. In recent years, they have had two chances to promote the club, which would also have promoted the City of Birmingham. The first time was when Sullivan and Gold wanted to relocate anf build a new stadium in Saltley. The proviso was to build it, in area that needed re-generation and the council, stupidly, chose the N.E.C.,which didn’t need regeneration. The second time was when,we won the Carling Cup and the council refused to allow the club to have an open top parade,on the grounds of safety. Both of these occasions, would have promoted the football club and City as well. Manchester City,Chelsea,Reading have already had open top parades at the end of last season and in fact the City of Manchester is now regarded,by many people,to be the second city of England. Two great football stadiums (along with a far superior airport) help to promote that city and its businesses. Come on Birmingham, wake up before it’s too late !
If ever we need to stick together then that time has arrived. I honestly believe that once BIH go bump we will be taken over and given the chance to move forward once again. The sooner the better……….Its a long, long road etc……KRO.
