A first for us all but hopefully not the last; Tuesday’s supporters club meeting provided the perfect opportunity to put forward Blues Trust members’ concerns to club representatives.
A cold, fresh winter’s morning at the club’s Wast Hills training facility, a spot of first team training was first on the agenda where Blues boss Lee Clark and several first team players happily met and posed for photos with members from a number of Birmingham City supporter groups.
A spot of lunch later and it was time to indulge in yet more on-the field action. All supporters groups were invited by Lee Clark to watch a behind closed doors under 21 match between Birmingham City academy hopefuls and Bailey Academy.
However there were more pressing matters to address; one look at the jam packed agenda and it became clear that two hours may not be enough time to address a wealth of issues ranging from safe standing and fans’ match day experience to ticket prices and PR and communications.
It was left to the club’s Deputy Safety Officer Dave Hoult to kick off proceedings who addressed various stadium and security related issues, followed by reports from the club’s Head of Marketing Alexa Stockham, Head of Ticketing Wendy Monks, catering head Sharon Byrne and Chris Alcock of the AV department. A full summary report can be found here.
Although back in the country following a lengthy stint in Hong Kong, acting chairman Peter Pannu was unable to attend the supporters’ club meeting, however was quick to acknowledge that there are many questions that remain unanswered; Supporters’ clubs were asked to compile a selection of questions for Peter Pannu to address via an update to be printed in the official matchday programme.
