Supporters Forum report
We attended the Supporters Forum at St. Andrews on Monday, 17 December. The full agenda and answers given can be seen by clicking here and a summary is included below.
However, something more than questions and answers was going on. Supporters representatives were warmly welcomed, and the hospitality shown was excellent. Edward Zheng (Board Member) and the other managers of departments were open and available to discuss issues. We have all felt better about how connected Garry Monk, the Team and Fans are now and I have the same optimism that we are building a connection between staff and fans – of course this will be tested when the next ‘difficult issue’ arises, but a closer connection will help communication and understanding of everyone’s point of view.
The answers to questions explained ticketing allocation (away games), some catering issues, gave contacts for Community Trust and identified that opening a Blues shop in the City centre is not financially viable. Information regarding future financial constraints at the club and plans for strengthening was minimal because the outcome of the disciplinary hearing (date still not set) will significantly affect what can and cannot be done. We discussed with Edward Zheng that a harsh punishment would be unfair because in the early years of owning a club (or any company) investment and extra expenditure is required to build a base. However he was clear that BCFC is working within the EFL’s rules and in constant dialogue with EFL regarding moving forward.
