Mindless actions

The Blues Trust wishes to place on record its utter condemnation of the actions of the individual who assaulted Jack Grealish during yesterday’s match against Aston Villa. As Trust members and longstanding Blues supporters we were all shocked and saddened by what we witnessed, and we wholeheartedly endorse the Club’s declared intent to punish the perpetrator in the strongest possible terms. The individual’s behaviour has not only increased the risk of further punishment from the football authorities, it has also tarnished the reputation of the football club that we love and hold dear. In this age of instant communication, his mindless action has probably already been witnessed across the globe, shaming our great Club with each viewing.

The loyalty, passion and desire of genuine Blues supporters is what makes our football club special. These attributes are the heartbeat of the club. We do not want and do not need behaviour of this kind from anyone at St Andrews or anywhere else.

We would like to take this opportunity to extend our feelings of regret and offer our best wishes to Jack himself and everyone else associated with Aston Villa Football Club. The individual who committed the offence does not represent the supporters of Birmingham City.
