Birmingham City v Cardiff City

In Off The Post

The following article has been written by one of our Trust members.  Would you like to contribute a discussion point of your own about Birmingham City Football Club?  If so, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Last home game of the season for Blues against Cardiff feels slightly odd. No pressure for vital points, little significance for either team and no edge to the outcome. Lee Bowyer, however, would shoot me down in flames and rightly so. Here in my opinion is a thoroughbred winner who does not do ‘no edge’. Cardiff will motivate him into notching up another scalp and enhance his already rising stock in the footballing world. He is obviously ambitious and thank goodness.

Talk this week has been about looking at the younger guns against both Cardiff and, next Saturday, Blackburn Rovers away. My feeling is that he may start with possibly one, namely Miller, and depending on the course of the game play another. Ideally I would like to see Cosgrove start this game but that would be at the expense of Jutkiewicz, which I don’t see happening.

Two meaningless games for us supporters at the end of the season is quite refreshing in an odd way – true Bluenoses know exactly what I mean – but next season, I dearly hope we never have one such game. In fact, quite the reverse. This of course either chasing a top six play-off spot, or dare I say it, an automatic position?

However, feet back on the ground for now and the final home game against Cardiff, which I feel Lee Bowyer will treat no different to his previous games. Winning is what drives him so little experimentation, in my view, will be what he will do. After all this is his career and every game and result affects his CV. At present his stock level continues to rise and long may it continue. Cardiff City offers him the chance to secure another home win and finish the programme in B9 on a high.

Blues Trust has partnered with the Tilton Talk Show to prepare an open letter to the owners of Birmingham City PLC and the Board, which  was published yesterday. We are asking Blues fans to sign up to the contents of the letter that calls for the appointment of an experienced CEO to stop the rot of the 10 years of decline. The idea is to demonstrate to the owners that the vast majority of fans whilst backing Lee Boyer and the team are demanding change at the Board and CEO level.

Brave and clever decision by Bowyer. Losing 0-4 gives a clear message to Blues board that he needs proper replacements.Next season cannot be relied upon by what have in reserves etc.
