Lofty Ambitions
Assuming our football league program returns this week, West Bromwich Albion and Coventry City provide Blues with an opportunity to build upon the away win at Preston. At this stage, with the current situation surrounding the club takeover still uncertain and the slow return of players from injury, achieving points this week and remaining undefeated would be some achievement. Lofty ambitions maybe, but very doable.
We need the impetus and the consistency to flow, particularly from the new recruits who have the ability to show flair. Chong and Mejbri are the game changers for me, with pace and skill. Getting them involved during games is going to be the key, as being on the front foot should naturally increase our possession without being worn down with long periods of dogged defending.
After the Coventry game and the enforced two weeks international break, more returning players from injury will be available to John Eustace for selection. This is obviously welcome and needed, but at the same time to finish outside a bottom five in the table by 5pm this coming Saturday is the realistic target in my view.
Ten games will have been played and, hopefully, the points earned during this difficult start to the season will be viewed as respectable. A fully fit squad thereafter could make things very interesting. But results over these next two games will take on extra significance for fans, and help to shape views as to whether or not we are in for a good remaining thirty-six games.
Early days accepted, but nothing wrong with having lofty ambitions. Building on that Preston result must be the way forward. Meanwhile, let us all hope that the Richardson/Lopez takeover does gain further momentum and flourishes this week.

Let’s hope we get decent results before the international break ,as for the supposed takeover feels like another false dawn to me hope I’m wrong but with the efl saying they haven’t received appropriate paperwork and nothing at all from anybody else looks like more disappointment to me kro
Quite optimistic on playing front apart from not having a descent Striker, hopefully that will be reminded in January and we have Gordon to come back.Think we have far more to give than the other Relegation candidates once suspensions and injuries kick in.
While Chong and Hannibal are getting the headline treatment the unsung hero for me is Jordan Graham. If anyone is going to get an assist it will be Graham. Bacuna and Hogan also need a mention as both have been excellent for the majority of this season. Hopefully Chong and Hannibal will add extra dimensions to our team lessening the burden on Bacuna to be the creative spark. Hogan has worked his nuts off this season but needs to be converting more of those chances. I’m definitely more hopeful than I was a few weeks back. I saw WBA Vs Burnley and they look a good side. Hopefully they’ll get the Derby jitters and we can do them on their patch.
Got to keep hoping Peter. We do need a change of fortune and this is the nearest we have been in a decade.
I must admit I don’t think there will be a struggle on the pitch this season I don’t think we will pull up any trees either ,let’s hope we can consolidate our position in the championship and hopefully good things off it but I will admit I’m not optimistic about new owners and new beginnings I really hope I am so wrong kro
3 points from these next 2 games will be decent, 4 or 6 would be an excellent return.
If Blues can show the same level of performance as they did up at Preston, perhaps with a bit more quality in the final third, we will have a decent chance in both these derby games.
We all know that with the current Blues squad we really have to ‘turn up’ for the whole 90 minutes in every game. If we don’t at least match the opposition for effort and desire, we are likely to lose most of our forthcoming games (due to the relatively limited quality at the Manager’s disposal)
Another repeat of Rotherham can’t happen, but that said I have been encouraged by the ‘response’ v Norwich and Preston-but we really need to keep this up tonight to be in with any chance at all against the improving Baggies.
Come on Blues-it’s about time we got something from The Hawthorns!!

Great result on Wednesday. Excellent overall performance too. And the quality of the goals scored was very impressive. The resources available to JE are still limited but he is certainly moving us forward. Well done to all.
