This week we were pleased to confirm that UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin and English FA Chair Debbie Hewitt will be addressing attendees at the opening night of EFFC 2023 to be hosted at the National Football Museum in Manchester.

The ongoing crises at two historic EFL clubs, West Bromwich Albion and Wigan Athletic, has again shown how urgent the need for reform to football’s governance is.

Next month the FSA will be heading to Manchester for EFFC23 to talk about the future of the game. EFFC23 promises to be a big weekend and the FSA is looking forward to seeing you all to discuss the future of our beloved game.

We’re pleased to announce that the registration for the European Football Fans Congress 2023 (EFFC23) which we’re hosting alongside our friends at Football Supporters Europe is now open.

Every season we help fans who are surprised at the severity of punishment for pitch invasions or pyro use as they seek further legal advice. They didn’t know they would be prosecuted, have to surrender their passport regularly (see: Football Banning Order) and face a long club ban. It’s heart-breaking to hear.

Sadly this season we’ve seen too many games marred by a minority using past tragedies – such as the Hillsborough disaster, Munich air crash or individual fans being killed on foreign soil – to wind up opposition fans.

Football reform was in the news again this week as we hit Parliament, talking to MPs about the need for an independent regulator and what it might look like.

This week the Premier League unveiled its new fan engagement standard, which the league says will “reinforce our clubs’ commitment to ensuring long-term meaningful engagement with supporters”.

Every few years we conduct a national fans survey to assess the state of the game and the views of football supporters.
