Chair’s Blog – August 2024 – New Season, New Hope
A new season arrives tomorrow with a full house expected at St. Andrew’s for the visit of Reading and the start of a campaign in League One. Fourteen short weeks have elapsed since the last season ended with, of course, the bitter disappointment of relegation.
In that time the club has mostly made tremendous progress, both off the field with infrastructure improvements and a tidy up around the ground which the Trust participated in. And on the field with 9 transfers. The progress ensures Blues supporters can look forward to the new season with pride, hope and excitement. It is a long time since we have been able to say that. The club deserves great credit for what it has done and the commitment that has been shown to deliver a better future, giving us all new hope for the future success of the club.
The one area that has unfortunately not gone so well is the distribution of season tickets, with plastic season tickets not being sent out to all fans and many fans complaining they have not received digital ones either. Whilst the club are trying to recover the situation as best they can by enabling collection of physical season tickets, it has made life difficult for a number of fans who, for instance live at distance, are on holiday or who can’t easily get around. Many are rightly quite upset about the situation. Hopefully the club will learn from this for future ticket distribution.
All being well things will go smoothly tomorrow entering the stadium, but getting there early and having patience is probably good advice. The Panjabi Blues OSC posted a helpful photo, shown below, of where fans should tap their digital ticket upon arrival at the turnstile.
After the fraught situation across the nation this last week, Saturday’s game also gives Blues fans an opportunity to come together and show unity and support for the team that bears the city’s name.
The Trust will also be hosting a drop-in facility for tea and coffee between 4pm and 5pm in the New Trinity Church Foyer, adjacent to the stadium on the old Kingston cinema site. Pop in for a tea or coffee and a chat about all things Blues!
