As the new season is almost upon us I am really heartened by the off the field activities and the results on the pitch too.

It’s very pleasing in particular to see the clean up campaign around the ground. I haven’t been able to visit St. Andrew’s since 2019, but was always depressed to see the amount of gathering litter in the surrounding area. It really gave a bad impression.

To see that the club and its supporters are doing something about it is great, especially given the dire financial state of Birmingham City Council. It’s a great idea and subliminally very important for anyone approaching the ground, removing any negativity that might be formed before even entering the stadium. First impressions mean a lot.

The new players, from what I’ve seen and read online, look to be up to the job and so far Chris Davies seems to be able to organise the team on and off the pitch. It’s not going to be an easy task to bounce back to the Championship immediately, but Blues do have a great chance of doing it especially given the investment in the squad.

It would be nice if we can keep our better players, and given the financial straight jackets that some Championship clubs are working under, we may be able to do so. There’s no doubt that the ambition of the owners has enthused many to commit their hard earned money to the club putting the disappointment of last season behind them. Let’s hope a successful season on the pitch is realised and their ambition fulfilled.

It should be a great atmosphere against Reading. Wish I could be there!

Well said Bill. Disappointing end to last season now replaced by renewed hope under the hugely popular Chris Davies. Something good happening with long term targets which hopefully will bring the good feel factor back to our club. Patience required of course but we as supporters are good at that.

I was there in the clean up campaign. Most of the people were local people taking pride in their area. The rubbish we hear of communities not integrating. Great idea of free tickets and store discounts. It was quite shocking the number of silver cannisters that we found littering everywhere. I absolutely love the way BCFC is involved in the heart of the community. It can only be good in bringing forward local talent.

Great and well done Ijaz. Totally agree with you.

Post match reaction from the Reading game. My dread of playing out from the back doesn’t sit well with me. Admit I have never liked it even seeing Man City etc operate it. Blues playing this system is going to have me a nervous wreck by the year end! Get the ball wide and let the proper wingers bomb on. We have enough of them. Let Sanderson and Beilik do what they do best and clear their lines.
