An Evening With George Parris
Birmingham City fans came together for a fantastic evening recently when Blues Trust hosted a special event with former Blues star George Parris. The night, supported by the Football Supporters’ Association and Kick It Out, brought together fans from across the community to celebrate their shared love for the club.
The event followed Birmingham City’s home fixture against Rotherham, where Blues 4 All had organised a first-ever matchday experience for 13-year-old Harveer. His memorable day continued into the evening, surrounded by passionate Blues fans and footballing figures. Events like this not only create unforgettable moments for attendees but also inspire more fans, especially those new to the matchday experience, to feel welcome and encouraged to attend games. Just like Harveer and his family.
A Night of Insight and Inspiration
George Parris, who played for Birmingham City in the early 90s, engaged in open and honest discussions about his playing career and the evolution of the game. Topics ranged from how football has changed over the years to the challenges he faced, including racism and gambling. Fans had the chance to ask questions, chat with George, and take individual photos to commemorate the occasion.
Adding to the special atmosphere was the presence of Roy Smiljanic, the legendary BCFC photographer. Having captured some of the club’s most iconic moments, Roy’s attendance was warmly welcomed and it was fantastic to see him doing well.
Bringing the Birmingham City Family Together
The evening was a testament to the unity and diversity within the Birmingham City fanbase. It provided a platform for supporters to socialise, make new connections and strengthen relationships within the community. The relaxed and welcoming environment encouraged positive discussions and future collaboration.
Blues Trust extends a heartfelt thank you to George Parris for his time and engaging presence. A special mention also goes to Blues 4 All, whose expertise and dedication to making football more inclusive played a key role in the success of the event.
This night was a reminder of the incredible community spirit that exists among Birmingham City supporters. Here’s to many more special occasions like this.
