BCFC Anniversary Memory
There are so many. After supporting the team since the 1970’s, where do I start? But I suppose it has to begin with the first game I went to against Middlesbrough in the F.A. Cup 6th round. 8 March 1975. Bob Hatton got the only goal, Fulham in the semi-final next. Joys and Sorrows? They’d only just started.
Fast forward to a home game against Bristol City, notable because it was the game where the incomparable TF scored his 100th goal for Blues. And I remember it was a fantastic goal.
Since then, the special days at St. Andrew’s are without number. Memories the same. Paul Tait (we all know why), Darren Carter (ditto), Christophe Le Bleu and that unforgettable Obafemi Martins’ day.
I have so many other things to recount but those who have also supported the team since the 1970’s will have their own precious memories. After all this time, hearing ‘KRO’ being sung STILL sends a shiver down my spine. Long may it continue.

I started attending home games in the 80s as a young teenager. The deepest sorrow was losing at home to Altrincham in the Fa Cup. We were truly awful that evening. I remember a young couple walking out of the back of the Tilton after the game. The woman said to her partner the gypsy curse must be real. He replied by saying no we are just bloody awful (it was a bit stronger than that). The joys have been many. The Enkleman howler, beating West Ham in the semis and then winning the Final. The play offs final v Norwich and having great days out at so many away grounds up and down the country. But the biggest joy by far has been Mr Wagner taking over at St Andrews. Wow what exciting future we have. His passion, vision and commitment knows no bounds. KRO.
I first started in the 1970s as well. A 0-0 game v Stoke in April 74. Hooked ever since.
Some different things. I was in Beau Brummie club in 70s and as part of that saw us beat Australia in a friendly 4-1. Must have been around 1977.
Away to Coventry around 1979 or 80 a bloke in spade man’s suit in Blues end was an interesting one.
I’ve been on the pitch a few times v Notts County after we won promotion in 1980 and also when we got relegated v Blackburn in 2008.
Favourite ever match. Any match we beat Villa is up there but seeing Christophe Dugarry playing for us was kinda special. Match v Southampton comes to mind.
